Angiotensin converting enzyme-gene polymorphisms in normal subjects, atopic individuals and those with anaphylaxis to venom, food and drugs
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Circulating angiotensin-2 levels (A2) protect the circulation against sudden falls in blood pressure. A2 is generated by the enzymatic action of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) on angiotensin-1. The ACE genes have 2 allellic forms, with the presence ‘I’ or absence ‘D’ of a 287 base pair intron of the gene. The deletion ‘DD’ genotype is associated with high A2 generation & higher serum ACE levels, while the insertion ‘I I’ with lower serum ACE levels & ACE activity.

Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Gene Polymorphism in Iranian Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
Background: Angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) is a Zinc metalloproteinase, converts Ang-I to Ang- II, a pro-inflammatory agent which may contribute to pathophysiology of some diseases like type 2 diabetes. Objective: To investigate the relationship between ACE I/D polymorphism and type 2 diabetes in 261 Iranian casecontrol pairs. Methods: 170 patients (85 type 2 diabetics with nephropathy a...
متن کاملPrevalence of genetic polymorphisms of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase C677T and angiotensin I-converting enzyme (insertion/deletion) in Sétif population, Algeria
The aim of the present study was to assess the frequencies of angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE; OMIM: 106180) and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR; OMIM: 607093) polymorphisms in the Algerian population to further facilitate investigations on possible associations with various pathologies. The study was carried out on 146 apparently healthy individuals (65 males, 81 females) who w...
متن کاملStudy of the correlation between ACE gene polymorphism and coronary artery disease
Introduction: Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) is an exopeptidase that converts Angiotensin I to Angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor and releases aldosterone, and have a critical role in hypertension. In this study, ACE insertion / deletion (I/D) polymorphism and ACE activity was determined in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and normal subjects. The corr...
متن کاملIgE-Mediated Anaphylaxis to Foods, Venom, and Drugs: Influence of Serum Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Levels and Genotype
Circulating angiotensin-II protects the circulation against sudden falls in blood pressure and is generated by the enzymatic action of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) on angiotensin-I. The ACE genes have 2 allelic forms, "I" and "D." The "D" genotype has both highest angiotensin-II generation and serum ACE levels compared to "I". 120 patients with IgE-anaphylaxis, 119 healthy controls, and ...
متن کاملThe host’s angiotensin-converting enzyme polymorphism may explain epidemiological findings in COVID-19 infections
The number of victims of the COVID-19 pandemic shows important geographical differences. In this study, a number of human genetic polymorphisms were compared to the number of Covid-19 patients and Covid-19 mortality. Data from 33 countries were analyzed. Among the polymorphisms tested, the human angiotensine converting enzyme (ACE) polymorphism turned out to be a determinant factor in both prev...
